maybe not the same but dentists tend to have a certain IQ.

"People with IQ's of 120 and above tend to staff the professions as doctors, dentists, lawyers, teachers, and college professors. They fall in the upper 10% of the population."

but this is my first time to get the real number = 120

It must be based on statistics.

Is there really no dental IQ? Hm..maybe PAT=dental IQ?

The term "dental IQ" is often used to determine how much a patient/parent of patient (for Pedos) knows about dental care/hygiene/etc.

I thought they were joking but it seems they really don't know what it means...OP, you want to become a dentist, then you should know that this is one of our jobs increasing people's dental IQ, especially people in underserved population.

Confusing if u are joking or not!

I still can't believe dental IQ means that!

If an endontist has a record of few endodontic therapy failures with his/her superior perceptual ability not to miss any infected canal structures, I heard he/she has really outstanding dental IQ.

I took a real IQ test while testing for ADD with a physc and mine was scored at 121, the tests had PAT like material even believe it or not. I would say a majority would score in my range on here, it really doesn't test memorization, its all natural. 121 according to my physc was being brighter than 94 percent of ppl my age apparently

yea ADHD, it's part of testing, ADHD is just "hyper" attention deficit.

I don't remember if they consider IQ as one of DSM IV criteria for ADHD.

But, sounds like if one has significantly lower IQ than normal guys, he/she is highly likely to have attention deficity disorder. Anyway, I can't believe it!

Dental IQ generally refers to the patient regarding their OH knowledge, dental care knowledge, etc (as Istr8nthem mentioned). I suppose you could extend that to the dentist him/herself but I would HOPE they know about that stuff by the time they get their degree. 🙂

And how do you know the test you took was a REAL one? What's is the definition of a real IQ test, and who defined it that way?
Just asking...

Pyschologist gave it to me, I don't know what other professional title would give a better one

What he said. Dental IQ is just a generic term for people usually not in the dental field (usually patients) about what they know about dentistry. It is not a measurable term as far as I know. My dentist uses the term in notes when a patient knows quite a bit about dentistry, noting he has a high dental IQ. I have also used that term in my personal statement as I feel I have developed quite a high dental IQ for a pre-dent from my experiences.

lol lolz lulz lal loller lul

It has been interesting to know dental IQ is rather applied to non-dental related people.

Btw, take the test on the site. It's pretty fun!
