Has anyone taken the NERB this August or will be taking it? I was wondering how likely is it to fail the perio portion. I know I have heard and experienced people being told whether or not they failed restorative, but not sure about perio. I know of 4 people who were told on the restorative they didn't pass either left decay or had a void in amalgam. I tried to look at the grade sheet to see if you have 12 surfaces of calculus and the examiner says you have less that it is minimally acceptable. It's not clear cut to whether you will pass with a lower score or not. I have seen a lot of 97-100 in perio but have never heard of anyone getting a 76% just wondering if it happens.

Why do you have to wait so long to get your result CRDTS is 2 wks florida gives you a preliminary grade at the end of the exam?????????????Come on NERB

Its very hard to fail perio.I took it last year, was freaking out,but was surprised to see the numbers later 🙂
for perio make sure you have "road-bump" calculus, this way you are assured of almost half the points even before you start the exam.if you have all the surfaces correctly, and dont tear up the soft tissue, you have a good chance of passing,as for scaling just do your best job.:xf:
Restorative was hard, I felt time wasnt enough if you have to request one or more modifications since my patient was in there for over 45 mins each time!Of course the actualy procedure doesnt take that long,so I would try my best to have lesions that dont need modifications at all and have backup lesions.good luck 🙂

It's really a crapshoot and anything can happen.

Just focus on getting reliable patients that fit the NERB criteria perfectly.

I have seen scores all over for NERB as well as CRDTS. It is not a test of skill but of preparation.

Thanks for the replies. I feel really good about my restorative had to send both back for modification. It went well for unfortunately 3 people next to me had to temporize. I am just worried about perio since it is so subjective. I have heard plenty of horror stories about people failing for misdiagnosis. I clearly had visible calculus on xray and had to choose a tooth with fairly little calculus but it was my 3rd tooth with 4mm or greater pockets.

It's just my nervousness getting to me I am more than sure I did fine. Again thank you for the replies
