Currently a software engineer but I'm thinking about going to dental school. Problem is I don't have all the prereqs and need to take the DAT.

I'm trying to find info about some dental-oriented post back programs, but it's tough because everything is med school based.

I'm in N. California and the schools I've seen that have postbacc are:

SFSU - according to the website, its not a very formal program
SJSU - same as SFSU
UCSF - need to have applied to dental school

Does anyone have any suggestions on what school to go to. I'd rather stay local, but if the programs make a big difference I'd consider moving.

Any help would be appreciated!

I know the SFSU one is pretty popular, probably because it's convenient and usually no problem getting into. I know several people that have taken it, most for med school, but a couple for dental as well. It is more geared toward med school, but since you're going to mainly concerned with the prereqs, it shouldn't matter too much.

You also don't need to do a formal post-bac. You can always take some of the classes at a JC or UC extension/summer sessions. The UC classes are probably the most challenging and expensive, but they'll prepare you better than the JC classes. I'm taking anatomy right now at CSM and its only slightly harder than what I did in high school.
