I was just wondering what kind of perks (free stuff) everyone gets? Here at Nova, we got a tooth brush and tooth paste on the first day. From there on out we get one free tooth brush each semester. So in all, i will get 5 free tooth brushes this year. With all the money i'm spending and taking out in loans, 5 free tooth brushes makes it all worth it!

Yah, talk about rolling out the carpet 😉

At UIC we got free Chipotle for lunch (today) from the nice people at perioptix. I thought that was really cool, so I ate my burrito and left before their presentation. Other than that, not much.

At Temple, we have free lunch all the time with people coming in and trying to sell their products....but its probably the same at all the school and Im assuming its gonna die down eventually...

However, today was ASDA day, and I can gladly say that I got so much free crap today......I think I have enough whitening products to last me years....and a few electric toothbrushes werent bad!

We get free lunch about once a week for ASDA lunches, but free electric toothbrushes and whitening products?? What the heck, i havn't seen anything like that!

Ya, here at Case, we have an annual attraction 'lunch and learn' from Oral B people and every year they give out free new electric toothbrush for everybody. This year they gave out their 'ProfessionalCare 7000' electric toothbrush and they said next year will be the new 'ProfessionalCare 8000'.

We get other free stuff, especially when the Air Force, Army comes to the school! They always have cool stuff and good food too!

Yeah, we got a bag full of whitening goodies from UltraDent a couple weeks ago. Now, if I can just find the time to bring home some alginate & stone to make casts for Rachel & me for the custom tray material they gave us...

Hang in there my man, you've been here for 3 months thus far! Since I've started dental school at Nova, I've gotten 3 FREE Oral-B electric toothbrushes, ton of free lunches, ton of free toothbrushes, flosses, pastes, listerins, Opalescence whitening kits....

Your goodies will come. You can't expect them to just hand over you $2000 worth of free dental stuff on your first month of school, do ya? 😉 You'll see what I'm saying as you truck through your 4 years of dental school. More stuff are to come.

Josh,

Get involved with ASDA. Find me in class and I will glady get you in contact with the reps from my class or the ones above me. If you would like more free stuff, we'd be happy to get you in contact with Philips, Orascoptic, Oral-B etc etc etc.

Opportunities are there and these companies practically are jumping to get into schools to promote products. I have several cards from the ADA conference of people to contact, but no time to organize this stuff 🙂.

Free stuff at NYU:

Toothbrushes (manual and electric) (health promotion class)
Floss (health promo)
Toothpaste (ditto)
Alginate spatulas (NYSDA)
Goggles (ASDA)
Cups (ASDA)
And lunches galore (many groups)

At my school all we got was a boot in the a$$....or at least that's all I remember.

Hi there!

I am involved with ASDA at my school (UOP), will you be kind enough to share some of the contact info with me so I can set up some "lunch & learn" opportunities for the students at my school? thanks!

Mary

The last couple of years before my school closed down they were spending their reserves on the students (probably to keep morale up). We had a lot of free lunches and the setup a LOT of activities for us for greatly reduced rates (e.g. theatre tickets, DisneyQuest tickets, Whirleyball! - think basketball in bumper cars).

They even gave us all allowances to interview at other schools in case we decided to transfer. Coincidentally, Nova was one of the places a lot of us checked out since it was fairly new back then and they were more than willing to take us on. I'm sure Nova is a great school but the majority of us stayed and finished up with no regrets. We actually had a great time at Northwestern Dental School which is a little unusual considering how most dentists will tell you they did not enjoy the entire dental school process.
