😀 😉
With tension running higher as Dec 1st approaches I figure I'll post a lighter thread.

You see, I suspect the reason why Dental schools ask for a photo to be included in the application is because they are looking to improve the attractiveness of dentists. Yes, you heard me right. People are generally more calm when they are treated by pretty people. It lessen the fear. 😀

That is why I decided to apply to dental school, so I can find a smart, handsome husband. I was looking at medicine at first, but there just arent that many pretty people in that field. Dentistry on the other hand have alot more pretty people. Beauty and brain, what a great combo. 😍
I plan on nabbing myself a dentist at school and then quit to be a home-maker😀

But now I'm discouraged because I found out that 50% of dental students are either married or engaged. That means that I lost 50% chance of finding my smart and handsome husband.

Does anyone else share my plan and dismay?😉

I was thinking about this too, if most of the dental student in dental school either married/engaged or have girlfriend/boyfriend, then how about those students who are single? Are there any clubs for singles that we can join?

i def agree that dental students are on average better looking than the med students. the med school students tell us that all the time, haha! as for 50% being married/engaged, i think it's a lot less than that. i'd say less than 10 people in my class of 116 are married or engaged, but there are quite a few in long term relationships.

I would hardly get a dentist wife....
Someone from another carreer if possible....
For my children too....hahahahahahahahahha

Ahhh... finding the love of my life in D-school! Who wants to date dentists though?? hehehe... I would like to be one, but I am not sure I would want to date one. They are tooo boring! J.K!!! I want someone who is not obsessed with teeth! 😀

I don't know about dating somebody in your class . . . it sounds like a recipe for disaster. However, I don't think it would be too bad to date someone in the other classes.

the only ones at my interviews that i've seen are married are people who are mormon...everyone else not married

ooh.. I like this kinda posts.. keep em' going!

Ah, I've dated dental students before and they are not boring at all. Actually they're really funny and out-going. Not at all the nerdy-types as some of you might have imagined. Most of them hit the gyms on a daily so their "fitness is vicious" as Fergie would put it.

ooh I like the stats. Relationships are not as cemented as marriage so I can take that.

Come on, you and I both know that not all dentists are obsessed with just teeth! They are also obsessed with gums!

Very wise indeed. Also, if you're lucky enough to go to a dental school that is in the vicinity of another dental school... why.... that's double the possibilities! YAY! UPENN and Temple comes to mind!

I plan on starting one if there isn't one already at the school that I'm going to attend if I get accepted this year. I'll take it nation-wide. Maybe even throw annual get-togethers for all dental students from all schools in the US and Canada. Maybe we can have a festival.

Gosh, I'm taking this too far.

ps. Please don't take this thread seriously and just enjoy it.

Too bad there are too many guys in dental school. It's a good place for females though. Blue_moon, you can actually choose. . .

at an interview i was told that the percentages are pretty close... with men leading by like 3 percent..

And if you are a normal looking guy you should have no problems because the male competition at dental schools are mainly DORKS...

looks bleak for us ladies.. then again i bet some of the ladies aren't exactly models.

What makes you think I'm not a dork? Look at my avatar, I might be Steve Erkl masquerading SDN

Would you care for a date?. . . 😉

considering the average age for an entering dental student is about 25, chances are not many are going to be single and if you're one of the younger entering students (22, 23)...most may be too old for you (especially if you're a guy). That...and the first thing i always hear when someone i know starts med/dental school is

"dude, EVERYONE is married or engaged!"

basically, don't expect to have a class full of suitors waiting to take your hand. if anything, you'd have better luck going to a school that has a pharmacy, med, or other professional program as well so you can meet people from those schools, or else you may be out of luck!

why limit yourself to a choice of 50 or so women in your class? I'm just looking to find a decent wingman.

Nova'll have Ft. Lauderdale hunnies.
NYU'll have NYC's gorgeous women.
UCLA and USC'll have some major, major loose, hot vagina.
Etc.

Wow. That's a bold post. Way to represent Brown.

Does USC take out-of-staters!? 👍

LMAO!

The guys will need your D.A.T. (Dating Assessment Test) score. If you score too much, that tells alot. If you score little, that tells something too. We also need a personal essay and dental checkup to see where or what has it been doing in the past... 😀

Seriously, people in this field are not into making themselves look hot or handsome or pretty or even knows the art of it...so it will be very limited for you.

Realistically, finding love can be at everywhere. Most hot or attractive people are usually found at clubs and bars and undergrad campus... maybe to some after midnight when everthing looks pretty or handsome after too many alcohols.

.

Here's an example of someone who is unavailable. Unless it relates to dentistry. 😀

Agreed!

I like bluemoons idea of dating someone at a different dental school(in same city) as you...temple&penn,nyu&columbia,bu&tufts&harvard etc

Definitely not available to all guys but available to females.

hmmm i don't know about the attractiveness of dental students. it would be nice to see maybe class composites of different schools and different classes. is that available somewhere? med schools have them~

personally i'm involved ina serious relationship and we are definitely planning on getting married. but i'm dental and he's medical. 😍

I've met many people at interviews who were married and not mormon. I am married and not mormon.

having personally worked in the dental school and dental clinic at ucla and having interacted with the dental students, i must tell you...UCLA dental girls are gorgeous, no doubt about it.

no...doubt...about...it

and since usc is rumored to have a more attractive student body than us, i can only imagine what their dental students look like.

guess what my top two choices are?

You are talking about yourself?

Of course that was a joke!! 😉 Dentists are the most fun ppl in the world!!! Still I rather be one than date one... and yes that was so cute, they are also obsessed with gums!

.....correction, most of the hot or attratctive ppl are found at clubs and bars when they are not studying for their DAT! 😛 --- or drilling someones teeth.. hehehe... evil dentists!

You are not kidding, man...after all, if you're going to spend 4 years of your life in and around dental school, it only makes sense to go where you'll be submerged in a sea of beautiful girls.

I believe USC's avg. acceptance GPA just went up a full half-point.

By the way, that was a serious question about USC accepting out-of-state applicants. 😀

Why date/marry another dentist? Who wants to talk shop when they get home from the office?

i think it'd be cool to hook up with the hygiene students at the same school. this way you're not always in the same class and seeing them every minute.

also, i know of a couple husband/wife practices, i guess it'd work. whatever floats your boat. i'd like to find a neurosurgeon sugarmomma-always at work, making some heavy loot. i could retire and spend it for her.

lol....i cannot speak for other dental schools but i will talk about the school i go to:

stony brook is one place that does not need beautifull people. there are some physically very well endowed men and women around here. off course there are some average and sometimes unattractive people; but oh boy, do we have hotties here? but here's the problem. the attractive ones are unavailable because they are either married or coupled. the girls are coupled with lawyers, bankers and med-students while the guys are coupled with models, physical therapists, phsycian assistants or other dental students. some pretty girls are available but the hot guys are always taken, and just beyond reach. but do not despair because there is one professional school that has many hot guys available (even hotter than the dental school guys): PT!!! yes, physical therapy. if you wanna meet super hot jock type abercrombie and fitch dudes, befriend someone from the PT program and go to their post-exam parties. you won't be disappointed.

good luck man-hunting 😉

I must say, at everyone of my interviews I have been surprised at the amount of cuties there have been there. 😀 I am very impressed with the way it seems like dentists take care of their physical appearance...and I can tell you, attending class makes a world of difference when you have good looking guys around you😛

As I was saying, dental school gals have it easy😀 . So many good looking guys around, and the ratio is very skewed (based on adea guide to dental school). Well, at least they could subtract one not-so-good looking guy (me).

You'll spend 9+ hours a day with these people and weekends partying. You won't want to date anyone because if you break up, it really could turn south.

I'd recommend finding someone who is married to a med student and dating one of them. Or a pharm person. They're always easy to come by...😀

Dating, not for me. Getting together, sure.😀

I'm hoping my post will attract more good-looking gals into dental school😀

Dentists do it in the mouth...isn't that reason enough?

corolla, I didn't expect that comment from an LDS guy like yourself!

hey borat. how are the first years?

this thread is hilarious. all i have to say is there had better be some good looking guys in my class. i just got out of a very long term relationship, and i'm not starting one up here when i'm about to leave. so good lookin fellas...head on over to the midwest!

I second that!!

 wow....you guys have been busy today!

btw: It's not just USC and UCLA - its ALL of SoCal 😉

It called date, not D.A.T.😀

It's call Downthere Admission Testing? Or D_ _ _ Admission Testing (D.A.T.)? where score of 0 or fewer is better and 30+ on the Orthographic or A.A. gets a LJBF rejection notice after supplemental fee collection.

For Denteng shoeman, it's Diplopodia Admission Testing? Maybe Deteng Admission Testing?!?
