Alright to start things off I'd like to say some of you may have heard this story a hundred time but bare with me please. Basically, I failed my first semester of college. This happened for a number of reasons the main one was lack of interest but I also had some extreme anxiety issues going on at the time.
However, now I got a fresh start at my local community college in which I am doing very well and currently have a 4.0 GPA. I am in a college transfer program at the moment. FYI: I plan on majoring in biology for help on my professional school entrance exams. Now what I am wondering is if a dentist school will accept me, I still have quite the number of classes to take. This is my first year at the CC college. I know I can raise my GPA but I don't know if it is possible to raise it high enough to be competitive. Don't get me wrong I don't expect to get accepted in any of the top dentistry school. Also, I plan on shadowing my current dentist to have a more competitive application.

Thanks for any advice,
Brian

The main thing is to get your grades up and keep them up. You should take advanced courses in biology and study hard for the DAT. I was lucky enough to get in my first try and what not but I would say with any problems with the application process you come to just keep trying. If this is what you really want to do then you will get there. There are plenty of people in my class that applied 2-3 times and now they are some of the better students. Just make sure that you do well in school and spend some time in a dental office (work in one if you can). good luck,

Should s/he get out of Community College?

Should s/he get out of Community College?
yes, most DS don't accept the prerequisites from community colleges...least thats what i read

Doesn't sound like you've settled on dentistry yet. I recommend shadowing not only a dentist, but any other professionals whose careers you may be interested in.

1 semester isn't too bad. I got an average of C for the first 5 years of school

Well I plan to get my associates of science at my CC college and then go to a 4 year university to finish off my bachelors in biology, so I will be taking plenty of advanced biology courses.
