Hi all!

I haven't taken the DATs yet, however I've been studying for the DATs for the last 2 months. I just keep getting cold feet, thus the delay on taking the actual test. 🙁

As for my GPA it's not great either, I have a 3.33 cumulative GPA. So seeing how I am lacking in the gpa department, what would I need to score on the DATs to get into dental school?

I've been getting around 18-20 overall on Kaplan and Topscore. Do you guys think that's good enough?

I personally don't think that's good enough. Just my opinion tho. With your gpa, I'd shoot for at least a 21-22.

At this point what you need most is a fortune teller.

Yea you really need to pull 20's and up across the board. Make sure you are using all the essentials to prep. What are your topscore results? Remember most people tend to do better on the real thing then they did on topscore.

u've got to aim higher than 20's. I mean this cycle was crazy and I'm sure it will get more competetive. Your GPA is on the low side. So, go for 21-22. gluck

I find that setting a realistic test date and then scheduling it FORCES me to put the time in studying because I can't procrastinate and put it off. It also allows you to structure your time and effort in a planned manner. Set a date, study your butt off, and take the test!

U'll never be a dentist with cold feet. Now seeing that I am a recent taker of the DAT (oct 29th 2009), I never took an actual practise test to "test" how I'm gonna do... and my reason was very simple, these mock up tests CAN NOT determine how u'll actually score on the DAT. However, I did do topscore JUST to enhance my knowledge on the questions I missed.

I ended up with AA21 TS22 and PA20...if I remember correctly, I did take an actual barron exam (from the CD) and I remember getting like a 18 on the AA, it was soooo discouraging that I decided not to ever test my self again.

My biggest advice to u is, schedule the test over the next 2 weeks, if u do ****ty, just retake it in the summer. Don't be scared of it, it'll be all over in 5 hours 🙂

I agree. I took 2 Kaplan practice tests and it was depressing. Did much better on the real thing.
