would a nursing degree increase my chances of getting into dental school?

While it is clinical experience, it isn't dental related experience. Imagine it this way, If I went and got trained in dental hygiene how could I use that as an angle in applying to med school?
The two occupations are almost polar opposites. If you want a step up go forth and get yourself a job at a dentist/ortho office. Dental hygentist?

If you want to get into dental school, you have to take the prereqs, many of which are not part of a nursing or dental hygiene curriculum. You should major in a science, ace the DAT and apply to dental school.
If you've ALREADY got a nursing degree, sure, it'll make you stand out, but don't start going after one if you don't have it already, you can do other things.
