I did post this on the post-bacc forum but I don't believe many people there are pre-dental. Anyway, I was just wondering if you guys know of any particular dental SMPs that aren't crazy hard to get into. When I graduate, I'll probably have a 3.0-3.1 GPA, which I know is low (but believe me it was MUCH MUCH LOWER earlier)...and I'm retaking the DATs in March...

Any thoughts? Thanks in advance!

hopkins, georgetown, and BU all come to mind. they are all very expensive and i recommend your state university if it has one.

I am going to sound like an idiot, but what is SMP? 😀😕😛

SMP = special masters program

these programs are generally 1 year in length and may or may not require a thesis. in addition, they usually involve graduate level science courses, many of which you will take during your first 2 years of dental school.

i believe Penn offers a remedial program as they put it, pretty much a 1 year intensive program that is for students looking to enhance their credentials prior to matriculation

I am not familiar with any other programs however I am interested in a similar type of thing as well, anyone else know of anything???

From what I've read - many SMPs that are catered to premeds will also accept predents. If you're asking which SMPs have a linkage deal, I haven't found any other than a few state sponsored deals that require you to be a resident of that state.

Thanks!😀

I think Upenn's one is not at grad level so it is not SMP

be careful, some SMP are not for Dental students, for example Georgetown U and NYMC,so you have to ask if that SMP work for dental students or not...
