Dental Student Laptops

Hey all!

I'm attending the Loma Linda University SD and found that we have specific Laptop makes and specs that we can only buy from specified vendors. They are making us purchase the laptops (either PC or Mac) for dental software. I was wondering if other Dental Schools were doing the same thing? If so, what are the laptop specs?

I am starting at UCLA in two weeks, and we were all required to buy a specific laptop (which could only be purchased through the school). We had 5 options to choose from and they all very overpriced, but it’s primarily due to the 4 year accidental damage protection plan that comes with it. I chose the cheapest one T410 ThinkPad and it cost me $1509...😱

OU strongly advised us to purchase Macbooks. The only problem is that all the lectures we watch work run much better on PCs. As a matter of fact, I still can figure out why in the world they were pushing Macs so much.
