Hello Everyone,

i am pre dental student in Carolina and thinking about taking extra semester to complete my B.S. degree requirement and all above that my gpa is below 3 and i am struggling hard enough to raise it. Can i still apply to dental school. Please help me in it.🙁

Do all you can to raise it, but remeber the science G.P.A is the most important in a way. I read in Med forims that some people should take extra classes, or master. Try that, and ask your advisor, or someone with experience in Dentistry.

i know its not funny really.....but i just LOLd at your user name haaaaahahahaaaa.

It's cool, humor keeps the human side of yourself in good spirits. I've been anguished over finding what career I want to do in life, ******* professors lowering my G.P.A. Know I know I need to do better, and **** gets harded after this freshman year. Overall, LIFE SUCKS.

Yeah, +1 for kill the DAT. I had someone tell me one time "study like your life depends on it.....b/c it kinda does, hahahahaha" While I hated hearing this, it was pretty much true. It's not the end of the world if you DONT make it in to dental school, but if we're being realistic, you will need to kill the DAT if you have a sub 3.0. Or take many more years to do a masters/work a job and prove to that adcom that you've changed/improved to the point that you can handle the rigors of the academic side. I myself thought one summer of hell was better than 2-3 years of masters, so I went that route.

First round of applying I had a 3.2 overall, ~3.0 sci, 2.9BCP--ie-I wasn't a shiny star in undergrad. My first DAT was slightly above avg for accepted and wasn't enough with great ECs and crap GPA. I had to retake and reapply year 2 and finally made it. I understand the struggle, so by all means I would say keep the faith. However it is going to take a lot of work and a lot of commitment. You can do it though!!! Best of luck!!!!!
