Good to see this sort of thing is taken very seriously. Its safe to say its so very rare that when it does happen, it makes the news in a big way

"...The dentist was charged with reckless endangerment in the second-degree. He maintained his innocence after being released on his own recognizance on Tuesday, but if found guilty he could face fines, censure, reprimand, and even the loss of his medical license."

I'd be surprised if the local dental board doesn't act and suspend his license.

This is crazy! When I read the article I was thinking the patient could be wrong, innocent until proven guilty. But in a new article it said the hygienist thought he was acting drunk and found the bottle.

I feel bad for him. Why couldn't he wait until after work to drink? He just threw everything away!

If he were an alcoholic, I could see why he'd be drinking at work. If he's not an alcoholic, then that was incredibly stupid of him. I'm not saying alcoholics should be allowed to drink on the job - rather, alcoholism is an addiction that needs professional help to treat. Maybe this was the event that will lead to him getting help? Otherwise, sipping booze on the job, just because, is sophomoric, careless, and reckless.

No one ever said his work was bad, or he hurt anyone. Who knows maybe it made him better.

😀👍

a dentist could be stoned out of his mind and still be better...

I don't think they have dental therapists in NY? But if they did I'm sure being stoned/high he probably could be better but being DRUNK is totally different. I think you have less control of yourself when you are drunk.
