I am sorry I can't help.. Can anyone help with the info?
Try and check the sticky notes, there might be something there.
I am curious about it myself. I believe it is something like this: once you leave school I think you must find a job within a certain period of time and then you get work visa. At least that is how it was for a friend who went to computer science program here...
sorry I can't help more..

After you start OPT, you have 90 days to find a job. Your employer should be willing to sponsor an H1 work visa. I'll be glad to help with specific questions.

in case you know companies in california who are willing to sponsor for H1 visa, could you plz state their names

Is it the same process for Dentists too? I mean do we need work visas like H1 to start practising after dental school? I know we need to take up licensing exams after dental school. What if we want to start with private practise? Do we mandatorily need a work visa if we are not a citizen or permanent resident?

The chains like Interdent and Western Dental will sponsor H1 visas, but the HMO work environment is not for everyone. A private practice can sponsor you too. Offer to pick up the legal costs.

You need to maintain legal status as an immigrant to live in the US, and you need a valid employment authorization document (EAD) to work here. You can get an EAD through the OPT period for 1 year, through H1 sponsorship, or by the investor route. The investor route is available if you want to start your own practice and are not a citizen or permanent resident.

Thank you so much for that information. You have helped me by clearing up a lot o questions on my mind.
I also would like to know, if possible, what are the prerequisites for obtaining a student loan? Do we need a cosigner who is either a PR or a Citizen?

I would like to know more about both topics: student loans and H1 sponsorship. 🙂

i will be in usa on B1-B2 visa..i wish to stay upto october 2010.
is it possible for me to get any job under any dentist..i m ready to work for any kind non clinical job in any dental clinic.

hi,
i just completed my DMD & currently i am in the process of obtaining H1-B (Work visa)
few facts: no work can be performed on B1-B2, H-4, F-1 visas
F-1 visa allows work only in the university campus where you are enrolled as a student (no outside work at all)
current market for H1-B is pretty scary,
there are not a lot of dentists who would sponsor H1-B because of rising costs & associated attorney fees.
corporate chains (Gentle dental, Eastern dental, western dental etc etc) are the most common options for H1-B
on OPT no one is allowed to stay unemployed for an aggregate of 90 days in a calendar year.
OPT for a dentist is 12 months & then you can file for an additional 3 month cap - gap extension provided you have H1-B approved.
don't forget first time H1-B won't start untill october 1st of any year.
most dental schools graduate in may-june,
refer to www.uscis.gov for further inquiries.
all the best,

Hey kpk , thats definitely a lot of info!!! thanks a million and wish you luck in your endeavor !!
