I shadowed a dentist over 5 years ago. He wrote me a letter and sent it to a file service at school. That file service no longer exists. I was thinking of asking him again, but it's been a long time since we've been in touch. However, I did get to help out around his office and assist him in treatments compared to other dentists/specialists whom I only did pure shadowing.

My question is would it be better to ask him a letter even though I shadowed him over 5 years ago or should I find another dentist to shadow and ask him for a letter?

You mean you have not seen a dentist in the past 5 years?

A relative, but I don't think a letter would be considered strong if it's from a relative...

So doc, is the letter from a shadowing experience over 5 years ago bad then?

Not unless the good old doc feels like he's being used.

I hope not. I kept in touch with him up until a couple of years ago, but it's taking me awhile to apply and I felt like I was bugging him.

Thanks for the answer.
