Hi guys
I really really need your help……I am going to take my DAT and MCAT this summer. I am a senior in a college.
I want to do either dentistry or podiatry. I was looking online for both profession's salary and it seems like that podiatrist make more money than dentistry. Is that true? It's kinda hard for me to comprehend that how can I podiatrist make so much money if they cant touch anything above the ankle!!! I really need your help in making this decision. Could you also give me the pros and cons for both profession please?

Im not trying to tell you what to do or anything but let me ask you a question....What do you enjoy about either one of these decisions you may make? You have to really guage on what you like to do because you will be doing one of these for the rest of your live. I feel like anything you do as a career in this world will always be an opportunity to make a decent income but you have to love it also. I couldnt imagine becoming a dentist just because of the money especially for me because I want to practice back in my hometown which is a rural setting. Anyway, please take my advice and do a little more research and let the money not be an issue.👍👍👍

We are all very disgruntled with dentistry at the moment. It is a boring disgusting job; having your hands inside someone's mouth and not being compensated enough is just not fair. You are right podiatrist do make more than dentists. In few years, most dentists will be replaced with midlevels they are called dental therapists if you want to google them. It's a dieing field, in my opinion I think you should pursue podiatry.

Yeah sadly those figures are pretty much dead on correct.

As far as "working" on patients, as a podiatrist, you can carry on a conversation whereas, as a dentist, it is pretty much limited to a monologue with occasional grunts/aha.

Sounds like you are making your decision based on salary. Interesting.

Only YOU can answer YOUR question on what YOU want to do. Shadow both. Figure it out. Coming to a dental forum, you are more than likely going to get biased answers and/or sarcasm.
