Hi everyone, I have been determined to get into pharmacy school for a while now, however I just starting become interested in the dentistry field. However, I barely know anything about the field of dentistry so i was wondering if anyone could tell me the process of getting into dentistry school, studying through dentistry school, and all the steps I have to take after completing dentistry school in order to open up my own office (either a ormal dentist or specifically a specialized dentist). Also, does anyone know how much more expensive dentistry school is than pharmacy school?
Also, is becoming a dentist secure? I know there will be a lot of loans to pay and opening up a new practice is risky....

(the prices may be a little off on this site. for example the DAT now cost $205 not $190 but you get a general idea)

If you are going to consider dentistry as a possible career I suggest you go talk to some of the dentists in your community and if you attend a college with a dental school, speak with some of the dental students and ask them lots of questions. Also shadowing a dentist would be a good idea to see if it is something that interests you and that you could see yourself doing.

Before I started my undergrad I purchases this book off amazon titled: The predental Guide, by Joseph S. Kim, DDS. It made my life so much easier. It is very good and in depth enough so you know the process. I highly recommend it!
