Like doctors, are dentists allowed to write notes for excused absences? I'm asking because I missed an exam at my university. Any info would be appreciated, thanks.

This really a question you need to pose to the administration at your school. We aren't familiar with what your school's policy on excused absences. You should have checked prior to skipping your exam if you had a prior arrangement somewhere else though. 🙂

Thanks for the help! I'm crossing my fingers that my school allows it.

Also, although a bit unethical, what's a reasonable excuse to say that I absolutely could not make it to my exam at that exact time and day?

You are not asking us to give you suggestions for a good lie are you? DP

You were in a car accident and lost an arm would be a pretty good reason. I doubt you could pull that one off though. SDN is a resource for ethical practice, not a forum where you can solicit ideas on how to pull a fast one on your administration. Closing thread.
