Dentists In New Jersey Salary?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
How about in Northern Virginia?

Anyone know through other dentists, family friends, etc how much a dentist in NJ makes?

Year 1 ( right out of dental school): ?
Year 2: ?
Etc.

Thanks!
hey i'm not sure for the NJ area in particular, but the general consensus is that 80-120K is the "range" that people are offered working as an associate. But it does depend on whether you're paid a % of production vs collection or a fixed wage. Add about 15K a year as an associate.

Now if you were to open up your own shop, that's a different story, i've heard ppl on here say around 150K first year, but i've also heard people say there's no way you'de make that. So for opening up your own shop i couldn't say

For NorthernVA, as an associate fresh from D school, probably in the range of 120-150K working full time and possibly saturdays too, most associates will get around 30-33% off of productions, minimum salary per day is a safe bet starting to make sure you have a steady income while patient load picks up, I think asking for 400-500/day is a safe bet.
Good luck

52 weeks-2 for vacation=50 work weeks in a year

50 weeks * 5 days=250 working days/year

250 days/yr * 500/day=$125,000/year

250 *400= 100K

So would it be better to ask for 30-33% of production (not collection)
what would be the average if production was given? I would think that the senior dentist would "take" the higher paying procedures and give you the lower/insurance patients, which would mean you collect far less than a fixed salary?

If you could clear this up, I'd appreciate it. I would really like to know what type of deal (in reality, not on paper) would give a fresh graduate a 150K deal. (Which would be fantastic!)
