I feel foolish for posting two topics in the last ten minutes.. but i was just looking at the thread in the pre-med forum about dental students..it made me so sad and it also made me think about some of my pre-med friends and how even they look down on my future profession..ie. they belive my job is silly and i won't be paid as much (and don't have to study as hard in dental school)..but have we not forgotten we as a dentists work fewer hours! we don't come attached to pagers and we are no one's SLAVE!
I am sorry I just felt kinda crappy and down and reading that thread did not help.. I just think we all need a little pep talk every once and a while..

they are just trying to get a rise out of us. Don't fall for it. And if some pre-meds end up as dds's; I hope those are the ones that make dentists have the highest suicide rate. If they don't want to be dentists they will be unhappy

Nah.......Never mind wasting your time bothering with what those SILLY PRE-MED has to say. The fact is that we have a better life makes them jealous. We get to sleep thru the night with our spouse in warm bed, not getting call at night. We get to spend time with our kid in the weekend. And the big fact is that we make much more money even though we work only 4 days a week...Ha Ha, life is really not fair. As the retired age is stretch and stretch beyond 67yrs. Think of being an old, platinum hair MD living in the midwest and have to get up in the middle of the night. Shuffle some snow out of the drive way and drive to the hospital to do some noble job. Nah, Nah....I believe that by then they would wish that they were smart when they were young and went to dental school.

I am graduating this may and you can't believe the job opportunities I am getting offered. You have all made the right decision. Dentistry is great and you don't have to be a slave.

WORD!! 😎 I'm currently in a Osteopathic medical school taking classes with medical students and all of my colleagues feel extremely appreciative for dentistry. We shouldn't let one or two ******S doubt our dream and career goal! Don't worry neeky, they are just being jerks. Their theory is ass-backwards too. We'll bust our butts in dental school, come out entering a highly respected profession that is not HMO controlled and have the chance to earn super $$$ in private practice. No one will own you!

My oncologist (tops in her field) tells me I'm doing the right thing. My boss' hubby is a dentist and she assures me he can earn more than most any doctor..........her son is pre-med and she is going crazy trying to get him to become a dentist instead.

Lastly, coming out of UConn will place us both in a beautiful position to specialize. Everyone loves UConn grads. Just specialize Neeky, all your doctor friends will be insane with jealousy and you'll be loaded. 😀

Amen to all....and remember, Neeky, there's always folks like me who left med school so they could pursue dentistry instead! So it can't be that bad ;-) Believe me, med school can be waaaay overrated.... 😀 😛

I have a friend who is evangelical. I myself have been asked by people to join their church. Yet you paint an entirely different picture of people asking you to join their church. You portray them as creepy and as accosters.
You take offense when people tarnish your future profession. Yet you openly voice your opinion of people who ask you to join a worship group or their church as "rabid squirrels". I took great offense at your characterization. I am really at a loss for words. You expect people to treat you with dignity, yet you so quickly disseminate your viewpoint.

I really did not want this thread to turn into something negative...but i guess it is inevitable?
If i offended anyone with my post regarding religious people, I am sorry, I suppose the sense of irony/sarcasm i was trying to get across didn't quite make it. But speaking of my seemingly new fave word "creepy" it does sort of make me feel uneasy that you, beyonder, have kept such tabs on my earlier posts! 🙂 I was merely trying to lighten the mood...as i usually (try to)do in the Lounge, i think sometimes we all all get too stressed out...plus we don't need any animosity amongst our fellow dental people....We need to stick TOGETHER!

I saw something you said to be extremely insulting, and then found it ironic that you now are insulted by what someone else said. I am sorry I remembered, I'll try to forget what you say in the future. Why is it weird that I remember something you said that offended me neeky? Did you not remember what nobadwords said and then commented on it? I don't think that is creepy, I find that to be a totally normal response.

Just wondering if in your last post you are agreeing with nobadwords and judging dentists to be stupid and arrogant. If you are agreeing with him and call yourself a true believer of God, then you should also know that it was God who said not to judge others. The ONLY one who can truly judge an individual is God himself. So if you have nothing nice to say on this thread, please don't say it at all!

I was upset that neeky called evangelical Christians creepy. She then went on to call me creepy and said that her comment about evangelical Christians was sarcasm, she was letting off steam? Yet she is offended by nobadwords, and then she gets upset at me for taking offense at something she says? I am truly at a loss for words. I am disgusted. Then I am attacked for being too negative? I am new to this forum, and i have just read the various threads that were the subject of all this discussion, and let me just say that thebeyonder is being totally angry and hostile and doesn't seem to realize that he should not sour a thread that was started in an obviously positive/uplifting manner. Giving all of the predental people a little "pep talk" was considerate and sincere and did not need to be tainted by someone's anger. (if you have issues with the neeky person just respond on the thread where you were "offended") Furthermore, if you are as "christian" as you say how do you defend your petty and needless attacks! This thread had NOTHING to do with what you were talking about.. perhaps you should watch that Phil Mcgraw dude that chicks seem to like on Oprah....I apologize to the rest of you guys, but i just had to say this--Peace!

You addressed your initial message to "Bruin2k" yet I don't see a post before yours that was written by Bruin2k (unless I'm missing something).
