% dentists sued?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
In dental school we were told that we would be sued at least once in our career. I attended a malpractice CE course last year and the highest malpractice was from doing endo (33%) followed by oral surgery extractions (27%). The % is of all the malpractice claims.

Everything revolves around CYA. However, I think if you treat people right and get to the cause of the problem (usually cost or a redo/remake), then I think you can work things out before they get to litigation. I hear you will have a board complaint once every 10 years for a small practice. I'm at 14 year and have had one that was dismissed with prejudice. It sucks, but I had a lot of documentation.
