Wonderful article.
It goes more in-depth into the subject rather than saying "pit bulls aren't bad dogs, blah blah blah.."
As an owner, I'm proud to say my dog is a pit bull. Many owners at the dog park do a double-take when I say pit bull. They then look over at their dog to make sure my dog isn't mauling theirs. The only way we are able to fight against this negative stigma is through education. It would almost be impossible to convince an uninformed person that a pit-bull is a smart, loyal, and obedient dog by just talking to them. It requires physical proof.
I also have to blame the owner for improper training. I'm not trying to be offensive when I say this, but we all know "those" people who have a pit bull because they look cool or makes the owner feel like a badass. Nowadays, It's cool to have a dog who is known for being violent because it makes other people think "i'm not going to rob this guy, he has a pit bull. and i'd rather not lose a limb today." (or same mentality)
Well, all ranting aside, I absolutely love the article and I'm glad progress is being made in raising awareness. 👍
