I'm a junior bio major hoping to get into optometry school for Fall 2014. I have a good GPA and a lot of campus involvement/leadership/volunteering through orientation, Greek life, and honors societies. I also do research under a bio faculty at my university. For optometry, I did a year-long internship with a local optometrist and have shadowed him and a couple other doctors at their practices. I have also shadowed vision screenings for children and I am working on shadowing a couple other doctors as well.

Right now I'm considering doing departmental honors too. The problem is that I don't think I have the time to complete it, since I want to graduate in a year and a half. Is departmental honors crucial to me getting into optometry school or should I stick with what I'm doing?

Your stats are pretty good, however a crucial part of your application is how well you do on your OAT, have you taken it yet?
