Deposit Extensions

I have been accepted into my second choice school, but I'm still waiting to hear back from my top choice. I would really prefer not to have to pay a deposit to both school. Anyone have any experience with asking for an extension on their deposit? Obviously I would be more than happy to go my second choice, but I feel they only see asking for an extension has you thinking less of their program.

That's a good question! My guess is that it's highly unlikely... but what you can do is maybe call the school anonymously and ask out of curiosity. How much is the deposit?

Some schools are flexible about it. I know that MWU-Glendale can give you a 2 weeks extension but no more than that. They're usually pretty nice about it if you call, ask nicely and provide a good reason. I think they're generally understanding about financial problems as a reason for an extension. Doesn't hurt to try asking if it's going to save you a couple of hundred dollars 🙂
