Does anyone know if these deposit deadlines are really set in stone? And even though they are "non-refundable", i've heard some people say the school will refund a portion of it. Is this true?
I have to pay my $1500 deposit to NYU by Jan 6th, and I have another interview at a school with a very high acceptance rate just a week later. Would it be worth it to call NYU and ask for an extension? Even if NYU gets my money, I will likely decline and they'll still have to find someone else. It's such a silly game.
I know it's "only $1500", but that is going to wipe me of all my savings and not leave me much for another deposit. I don't want to sound like a jerk calling NYU tho and telling them that I really don't plan on going there unless I have to.
