So I got a 25Q (9PS, 7VR, 9BS). My overall GPA is a 3.69.

I am considering retaking the test in August. I am going abroad on a scholarship so the earliest I can retake is in August.

Do I have any chance at DO schools? Should I even send out an AAMCAS application now or wait until the August scores to apply to MD schools?

I am a PA resident which wont be helping me out since all the PA schools are already extremely competitive.

I dont know what to do right now, but I would appreciate some honest and realistic advise.

Starting to loose hope...

If you retake the MCAT and score a 30+, you would be a competitive MD applicant. Maybe not at Johns Hopkins or Harvard, but Creighton, Tufts, Boston, etc. could definitely happen for you. Good luck!

You do have a chance at DO schools. I´ve read instances of an acceptance at a DO school with a verbal of 7. That might be more likely if English is your second language. I think you should retake the MCAT though if you think there´s any chance of improvement or think that score is a fluke. Your GPA is good, and you´d give yourself more choices if your can raise the score just a bit and improve the verbal.

I would retake it. If you feel that's the best you can do, fine, leave it be. Even a 2-3 point increase on that score would be huge.

Most medical schools will screen your app if you have below an 8 on any section of the MCAT-- and I've heard many members from admissions offices say that the VR score is a good indicator of how you'll perform in med school.

In order to apply to a DO school, you need to have clinical experience from shadowing an osteopathic doctor (unless I'm remembering incorrectly).

Taking the MCAT in August will mean that your app. will be processed later, which will also mean that you're at a marked disadvantage.

However, if you think you can score a 30+, try, and see what happens.

If, however, you're quite sure that you'll be far too busy this summer w/ your scholarship, and won't be able to sufficiently prepare... then applying next cycle might be your best bet.
