Depressed...any hope for an interview?

Apps completed at schools at the end of August. Still no good news. I feel like my app has been passed over. Do I even have a chance for spring interviews? It seems like it's always the same people getting all the interviews. I think I need to stop checking SDN and Predents.

i was starting to lose hope too (no rejections but absolutely no news either) until i got my first interview 2 days ago.
and my stats aren't superb.
it's definitely still early.

By the way, you should start interview preparations right this moment if you are not doing so already.

I'm in the same position as you with similar stats. One thing that you pointed out that I found to be true as well is that a lot of the people getting interviews have like 5 of them. I'm hoping that once they start selecting their schools, more and more people with stats closer to ours get interviews. The bad part is I don't think this will be until post-december...but you never know.

I'm keeping myself busy by improving what I feel are the weakest aspects of my application for next year... eg. GPA.

I haven't heard anything either... from anywhere... not even NOVA, which I know has been rejecting/interviewing like crazy... and I'm from the 7/2 batch

don't lose hope.

just because you don't get an interview now, doesn't mean you're not going to get one later.

a lot of people receive interviews in late october and even later.

i know quite a few people that had interviews after january and still got in.


so don't despair!

With the new DAT reporting system this cycle, i feel that some schools are starting a little slower than usual... maybe this month we'll get a burst of interviews and hopefully there will be some for everyone (but not for to many, because everyone is a competition😎! except me

but whatever happens...if the schools dont give you an interview/whatever..dont think of it as a negative thing like ur not good enough or anything like that....think of it as the school made a big mistake of not giving you one and its their loss....heh

I think things will be much better for those of you whom don't have interviews (or very few interviews) so far.... because remember, after dec 1st, the folks who get accepted at their favorite schools will start withdrawing alot of their applications from other schools... this lowers the overall competition

As much as I would like to make everyone feel better too... this is not the correct logic... because after dec 1st, the number of spots leftwill significantly decrease. If you consider strong late applicants, the competition only gets fiercer. However, this is only the beginning of october! we still have 2 more months before december 1st. Hopefully something will come our way.

I don't know if any of these schools below are in your list or not, but It seems like none of them are done with the Pre-Dec 1 interviews :

USC, Western and Boston

I think the next two weeks is a key. Western told me that, they are not sending out any rejection letters till after Dec 1 and it will be through the mail.

I just got this email this morning. I am kind of bummed...I want an interview at at least one of my state schools 🙁. There was a thread up a few weeks ago though where a couple of people on continuing review got an interview a week later or so...however the original poster in that post said he has never heard of anyone going from continuing review to an interview so opinions vary. hopefully the adcoms will look at us again and take us! at least we aren't rejected (do they even email rejections?)

i was going nuts just not knowing so i decided to keep myself occupied with extra classes, research and shadowing...it's definitely helped with keeping me sane...but i'm also losing out on sleep!

hmm.. do you all know how long interview invitations go until? What is a the latest you all have heard of an applicant receiving an interview invite?

I know SDN is all about being positive and giving each other hope and all and I hope I am wrong on my assumption here but I do not think those interviews from Tuft or BU or USC in Fed and March are really for someone who have applied in July or Aug.

I think those interviews usually go to people with strong stat who for some reason applied late ( late Sept or Oct ) and the processing of their application was denied.

I think If you are an applicant who had his application completed in July and Aug for schools like, Boston, USC, UofP, Western, Midwestern, NYU and you still have not heard anything from them, then it is safe for you to assume that they have passed on your application and you have been rejected.

look at this predent profile. he got interviews pre-dec and got invited to BU in March. This means that he completed his app very early and still got a late interview.

I really hope that you are correct. All those schools that I have mentioned has already passed on me and I will make me really knowing that it is NOT all over for those schools.

I think those stats confirms what I said earlier. Yes, nothing is over till it is over but the chances get very slim.
