Derm away rotations in July -- outside student

I am currently going into my fourth year of med school. I have a question regarding snagging an away rotation in July. As far as I understand, most schools save July for their own students to complete their dermatology rotations. Would it be very difficult for me to find an away that would take an outside student in the month of July? Should I even bother wasting the money to apply? Thanks in advance!

No it wouldn’t. I know of a number of people who have done July aways. Apply!

You can never tell unless you apply. In general, yes, most programs are saving slots for their own students first. Many programs also require that you have completed a home rotation before you embark on an away rotation. But if July works best for you, give it a shot.
