Derm-lemma (come back)

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Anyone? I would really appreciate any advice. I know that residencies are earned and not granted, and I'm ready to work extremely hard in order to match. I would just like some feedback on people who've been successful/unsuccessful in matching into derm from a lesser known school. Thanks so much.

. . . Should I turn down my offer and apply again (earlier) to get into a more competitive school . . .

No offense, but that is an incredibly foolish statement.

You can get into Derm even if you go to a "no-name" school. I know of people who have done it. Competitiveness is not always all its cracked up to be.

Successful derm applicants are rockstars in the basic science years and continue that performance through the clinical years. Research will always be beneficial, as will establishing a good relationship with your home derm department.
