Not sure how much interest this threat will generate but I thought I would give it a shot. The purpose is to get reviews regarding programs and ask questions about certain programs. I've seen sputterings of this sort of thread but nothing continuous. If this is successful, I will make this a sticky for others to use in the future.

Any reviews regarding the Cleveland Clinic Derm Away?? I just got accepted for a month of it. Wondering what people generally think about their previous experiences. Residents are also very welcome to weigh in. Thanks.

I know several people who have done away electives there. They have all had many good things to say about the program. 3 out of the ~10 people who I know that have rotated there have matched at CCF in recent years.

I predict that very little negative things will be said about any away rotation. This means one of two possible things:

1. All away rotations are great.

2. Visiting students are reluctant to badmouth a place they are applying to.

My money's on 2.

For anyone applying to aways for the coming year, have you heard anything through VSAS for any of them? I applied to a few for August (I submitted my applications about 3-4 weeks ago) but haven't heard back from any of them yet.

I applied for august and september spots and so far, I haven't heard from the former but got an unofficial acceptance from the latter.

I heard back from the 4 schools I applied to within a week, but then again, I applied pretty early for August and September spots (early April).

Did any school accept/contact you before you uploaded your immunization forms? My school's health service center is really annoying me by not returning my forms (I dropped them off to be signed a week ago and they told me there was a 72 hour policy, but it's been 7 days now).

I didn't send in mine in until I had all the forms/ documents although one of the non-VSAS programs rejected my registrar-printed transcript in lieu of an official one, but they e-mailed me to let me know they weren't going to process my app until they received it.

Ugh, I'm having a similar problem. Applied to a bunch of August/September rotations back in April and have heard nothing from most programs, but already have two "No's" due to lack of space or whatever. This is very frustrating.

Do you guys think it's a mistake to do a rotation somewhere where I have been told normally has a 235 cutoff for interviews (had a friend interview there last year and remembered them saying it)? I am signed up for an away there but have a 232. They didn't ask for step 1 scores so did not know this until after the fact.

No. Because if you really are interested in this location, they may make exceptions to exceptional rotators. Worst comes to worst, you can potentially generate a very strong LOR from them assuming you do well.

Agreed.
