I'd ask this in the allo/osteo forum but they still seem a bit territorial about their turf so hopefully I can get some feedback here.

I know things change but my interest right now is baldness/alopecia/all things hair. I have done some research in the area, and I'd like to continue in medical school and maybe even as a doctor. However, all roads to this seem to lead to derm so I was wondering if derm really is the only go to for my interest or what other specialities (maybe endocrinology?) that is tied with my current interest. Any (more realistic) others ?

Plastic surgery. If its procedures you are after then it will probably be through derm or plastics for hair stuff. You will probably change your mind in med school though.

You can continue this research as an internist even. It's way too early to worry about this. You should be focused on finding a mentor who does this kind of work where you will be. If one doesn't exist then try to continue doing research with another supportive mentor.
