Is it possible to get into Dermatology after residency in IM..? ie if someone does residency in IM at a place which also has Dermatology residency & get involved in research?? Does the USMLE scores matter then?

Possible but doing an IM residency usually does not help your chances. USMLE scores will still matter, you have to think about this from a PD's perspective: why should they pick an IM resident with mediocre scores (and has already used up allotted residency funding) over a fresh batch of MS4's with outstanding scores?

Hey thanks! was actually looking at profiles of 2 IMG's who got into Derm after IM.. Dont know about their scores though..

yup. and marrying one of the faculty or resident helps too. there is a lot of that going on. check those profiles out carefully for clues ;-)
