Hi all,

I applied both MD and MD/PhD this cycle. I applied only MD to my alma mater since I figured it was out of my reach but I just spoke with my research mentor who is on faculty at the program and he encouraged me to apply MD/PhD there.

Is this possible since I have already submitted my primary to this school (and received a secondary as well) for the MD only program? I see that AMCAS still allows the change to be made but I'm curious how it works on the med school side and if they just update my app to MD/PhD app if they receive that application.

Thanks for any insight!

I'm pretty sure that is exactly how it works. If in doubt, just call and ask the school. Some schools even allow you to apply to both. I don't think this is a big deal at all, especially at this point in the cycle.
