whats the difference b/w polymorphic variation and adaptive radiation

From what I understand, polymorphism is when a single population contains two or more different phenotypes of the same species. Adaptive radiation is when a whole bunch of species evolve from one parent species. I wouldn't take that to the bank just yet, but I'm pretty sure that's the idea.

polymorphism literally mean poly=many and morph=form so many forms pertaining to phenotype of the allele...it is very common an example that i found on wiki was between jaguar's where one is light (the regular gold looking ones) and the other is dark (it has like a dark black coat)...

And adaptive radiation means that a single species gave rise to many different ones...example are the gallapagos finches darwin was studying with different beak sizes if you can remember...so basically one ancestor gives rise to many distinct lineages
