Hello. I am new to the site...

I am planning to take the DAT in August...(don't know exactly when).

So I read the numerous threads claiming how wonderful destroyer and achiever are for DAT preparation. Are they really helpful?

If any of you who already bought destroyer or achiever and have been studying with them, or already have taken DAT after using them, could you please leave some feedbacks???

Thanks for your time.

These are some must haves..

DAT Achiever: It's a set of full length tests. They are much more difficult than the real thing.
TopScore: This is another set of 3 full length tests. Easier than Achiever, but still more difficult than the real thing.
DAT Destroyer: Huuuge pool of relatively difficult questions.
Crack DAT PAT: This is all you need for the PAT.

Buying the materials might be a little expensive, but it will be worth it.

Thanks. I alreday have PAT crack and have been practicing with it. I just wasn't sure whether the destroyer was worth the money.

P.S. Do you think it's possible to covering the materials finishing all problems (I am assuming ~600 questions or so if my recollection is correct...) in about a month? I think I need more practice with questions and I thought destroyer and acheiver (based on my judgement) would be pretty helpful with preparation for DAT. Please let me know. Thanks again!

I can't really tell you because I don't know how familiar you are with the material. My first time through the book took me about a week. I would go through the bio maybe 80 questions a day, 30 or 40 general chemistry questions a day, and 30 or 40 organic chemistry questions a day.

using supplementary materials all depends on how you use it. If you haven't taken all of the sufficient courses, Ex. If you have no idea on physio and some biochem, etc. It will take you longer to get through the destroyer. If you have solid ground work, then you can go through it relatively fast.

Key is to know what all of the other choices mean in the destroyer. It took me a long time the first time I went through it.

Thanks. I am mostly concerned about Orgo, though I still need to work on Bio and Gen Chem. It looks to me though no matter how much you study for bio section, you are very likely to get some random (out of nowhere) type of questions with topics you might never have encountered or covered thoroughly.

I am trying to find the best source for the organic chem. Thus, I am very interested in how much destroyer will be beneficial for preparing DAT. I am using Kaplan, and have been reading threads claiming the amount of information (for Organic Chem, that is) from Kaplan is adequate for DAT, but still puzzled how to attack. This is why I would like to know whether this "destroyer" thing would help me to prepare for the orgo section. Any words of advice on how to attack Orgo section? =D

BTW, thanks for your comment TeamGuo!

DAT Destroyer and Achiever and both must haves in my opinion. I would go over the DAT Destroyer once or twice over and then go ahead and do Achiever to see where i rank.

I would also use Kaplan.
