Destroyer again!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
i just voted...i think the destroyer is a MUST have...you'll really appreciate the quality of the work once you use other materials. dr. romano helps you focus on what's important and tested...definitely get it if you don't have it by now.

I just started studying for the DATs but already I'm finding that the destroyer is a solid book. I'm using it as my primary studying tool. The stats on this poll don't seem to match up to all the positive hype the destroyer gets in the dat-discussion board...

I'm using detstroyer and it really helps, it's just jammed pack with info, not that it has everything I'm sure but it's got like a billion hard questions and every answer has mad info in it to. Reviewing from study guides really helps, but so far the hardest questions I've seen are from destroyer. 👍

For every person who benefits from the Destroyer...I am sure there is at least one person who purchases the Destroyer and merely tosses it aside because it is "overkill and the real DAT would never have questions like this." People who have that sort of mentality have already subjected themselves to defeat. They have simply purchased the Destroyer either in vain...or under the impression that it is some magical elixer.

I am in no way trying to call anyone out...but I have seen a lot of the science questions posted on this forum, and I say this with absolute 100% conviction that if everybody purchased the destroyer and studied it inside and out...most science related questions would vanish into thin air.

A lot of people talk about needing to have a "foundation" before attempting the Destroyer. Yes...there really is no substitute for actually attending bio/chem/orgo lectures as an undergrad and getting at least a 3.0 (which I believe is a sufficient foundation for DAT purposes). However, having used Dr. Romano's material extensively...I have to say that getting the most from his material is really a matter of will. Bone against bone....muscle against muscle....will against will. Could the same be true for other guides? Absolutely...but it is my belief that the outcome will not be the same.

Destroyer is a great resource for the sciences in particular. It got me through the DAT with mid 20s. Definitely try it out.

eh..i'm not sure as of right now. i'm not very satisfied with the help i've gotten from the creators of the Destroyer. i've emailed nancy for the updated questions and still haven't gotten a reply yet (it's been about a month). 😕

Did you try calling? I know that they ALWAYS pick up the phone during normal business hours. As for email....can't say that I had the same experience...usually I get a response within a few hours at the most

Hi, this is Nancy, co-owner of orgoman.com. I do my best to answer all emails and phone calls in a timely manner. It is possible something was missed. I have sent you my personal phone number. Give me a call and I will be more than happy to answer any questions.

nancy and i have cleared up the misunderstanding. i appreciate her trying to get to the bottom of the problem and sending the updates to me. 🙂

I dont understand how people could be giving the Destroyer a 1 on the poll. Please someone tell me what drugs they are taking because they definately are not on the same planet as others. To say that book is not helpful at all is just bull**** and those are definately haters!

i have been using the destroyer to study and i think its amazing. the questions make you think-something we all need to do..to do well on the DAT and in dental school. def get it!🙂

In my opinion the DAT DESTROYER clears up, as well as re-freshens a good amount of topics. It is greatly recommended along side other resources as well (plenty of those around) Regardless what anyone might say, the Destroyer is a great tool. Even the solutions are like mini lectures that go into depth on some concepts and goes over the wrong answers and why they are wrong. Sooooo... yeah... I would recomend the destroyer as one of DAT prep. tools.

I have been using the Destroyer and it helps me a lot. The questions are challenging and they make you think and I like the detailed explanations for problems. I feel more confident with science questions, especially Orgo and Gen Chem. Destroyer gets 6 thumbs up.

WHY?

There isn't any guide out there that compares to destroyer. Let's face it...as far as DAT prep is concerned...there just isn't a lot to choose from. Achiever is great for simulating the actual test...but I don't think it can serve as a guide in and of itself...but more as an important learning experience. Topscore is too easy for SNS and PAT. I know everybody seems to like the Kaplan book...but I prefer to use my textbooks.

If you want further reasons...see my comparison between Destroyer and Achiever...it's pretty detailed. But yeah...get it for yourself and you'll see. If you've been using a lot of the other popular material, I think you'll realize there's nothing like it.

I have just started using the odyssey and I find pretty amusing🙂 I'll let you know more in a few days!!:hello:

Good for you!!!! Great book. I bought that book back in october...spent a month and half with the book...~6-8 hours a day. I found the problems to be very challenging and unlike anything I've ever seen. That book is pretty much the bulk of my ochem prep.

I'll just say this....the first week I spent with the odyssey didn't do a whole lot for my self-esteem...very good lesson in humility (I started ochem thinking it was gonna be a breeze since I got such good grades, given that was many years ago). Good luck
