i was thinking of buying the dat destroyer and was wondering how it compares to the actual dat, is it harder, easier? does it do a good job of preparing you for the real thing???

it simplifies a lot of ****.. in a good way though.. does a good job explaining answers... unlike topscore.. which really doesnt explain ****.. but makes good practice... lots ot questions and good practice.

It's good. You have to keep in mind that unlike with other tests, the DAT doesn't have old tests published. So you have to pretty much make do with other practice questions. I think the destroyer is very good for Orgo & GC.

How long do you guys think it'll take to go through the Destroyer? I'm trying to map out a study outline and just wanted to know how much time I'm advised to set aside for it. I don't know how thick it is...?

Thaaaanks 🙄

I think fancymylotus was able to do it in a week. But realistically, I'd say 3 weeks? I personally didn't use Destroyer so I am just speaking from stuff I've read on this forum.

I think i always took one day for OChem and Gchem to go over every section...and at the end i went over only the questions which i made mistake on my first or second attempt.
But for bio it took me complete 2 days to go over every questions at first. But the second attempt took only one day. And anything that was new to me but appeared on destroyer, i kept writing in a notebook, so at the end instead of going over every questions, i went through my notebook. In that notebook i wrote everything that was given in the explanation or anything useful from Wiki or from Campbell.
But definitely Destroyer is easier and less time taking if you are using textbooks rather than review materials.

I took my time with destroyer and really went over every topic in every question. Took me a while to get through it but the time spent was well worth it.

I think i did the problems about 2 more times after that (I did gchem problems 3 more times.)

Thanks guys!

I was going to give it about 2 weeks, after going through review material and some class notes.. but I think I may extend that time a bit.

Just to add, it took me 2 weeks to get through it once. I did it alongside the kaplan tests. Add another week or two so you can go through it a couple more times. For me, orgo and GChem wouldn't stick after only one pass.

I think to add the destroyer as one of your study resources can help your chances of doing well not hurt it. So if I were you I would definatly get it.
