The answer says that the curve will be shifted to the right? Wouldn't it be shifted to the left because oxygen is taken off hemoglobin thus hemoglobin becomes less saturated. I understand the concept of respiration but I may be reading the graph incorrectly.

If you shift to the left O2 would be saturated...so there's more O2 binding actually. If you shift to the right and compare it to the normal curve (becoming more s-shaped) the right curve is lower than the normal curve so less O2, more CO2 and more acidic .
