The question is:

Consider a sample of DNA that undergoes four rounds of replication. What percent of the double stranded DNA produced contains part of their original-stranded DNA?

and the answer is 12.5%. could someone please explain this to me.

Also, this question seems really familiar to one I saw in the KAPLAN blue book which states:

If a strand of DNA underwent four rounds of replication, what percentage of the total DNA present would be comprised of the original DNA molecule?

the answer for this was 6.25%

Can someone please tell me if I have a misunderstanding and the two questions are not the same? Or are they. Please explain.

thank you

the first question says double stranded DNA undergoes 4 rounds of replication. the second question says that only one strand undergoes 4 rounds of replication...
