Hey guys, quick question - this is neither an add for or against the Destroyer:

I am going over the biology section of the destroyer and it seems relatively straightforward and not too terribly hard. My question then - is this comparable to the real test? or is the real deal somewhat more difficult?

Thanks for your help!

The actual test is much easier in my opinion. First of all, process of elimination is much more easily executed. Destroyer Biology was not designed to be like the real test...instead, the Biology section is designed to expose you to as many areas as possible. I think it serves better as a guide with the important topics and key points outlined.

In my opinion, the best way to utilize Destroyer Bio is not to see if you can answer the question correctly (Hardy Weinberg, pedigree analysis, punnett square problems are the exception), but to absorb the information. When I was going through Destroyer bio, I didn't really use it to test myself, but rather as a study guide. First I memorized everything in the Bio section...then read up on material that I was not familiar with. Then, when I completed my readings, I would add important information to the side margin in the solutions. This worked really well and in the end...my conceptual framework of biology had become greatly magnified!

To actually test yourself....use achiever. And yes, the question format of achiever has been designed to be much more challenging than the Real Deal.

Hope that helps!

did you use schaum's or kaplan before this?.. I'm not too strong in bio so I am reading up on these before diving into destroyer...any thoughts?!

No, I was a bio major so I am just diving into the destroyer (plus I don't have much time before I have to take the test) However, whenever I do come across questions that I don't know, from either a practice test or destroyer, I usually grab a text book or start wikipedia-ing more information. I inherited kaplan from my brother and bought Schaum's, but my bro said not to waste time w/ kaplan and I think Schaum's is poorly formatted (way too dull) for my personal learning style. So those aren't getting much action. Actually, I prefer text books - I think the way most text books engage the visual part of your mind (by adding pictures, color and bolding) makes it easier to learn. The same thing goes for wikipedia.
