Consider the reaction of 2.5M dichromate:
Cr2O7^-2 ---> Cr+3 (acidic medium)

What would be the solution Normality if the reaction goes to completion?
a) 7.5 N
b) 2.5 N
c) 0.83 N
d) 5.0 N
e) 1.13 N

The answer is 7.5N because there is a change of 3 electrons. Up until now, I've been multiplying Molarity by the number of dissociated H+ or OH- to get normality, but here, I don't understand how 3 moles electrons relates to normality. Could someone please explain this to me?

Also on a related note, is i, the vant hoff factor, necessarily the same value as # of equivalents in normality? i.e. I think 1M H2SO4 is 2N but has an i of 3. Is this right?

Thank you in advance
