I think they would specifically indicate whether it is as a whole or just the central atom. No big deal.

It asks for lone pairs in AsBr3, not As. Asking how many lone pairs total in the molecule. On the test, if they wanted lone pairs on a specific atom, they'll specify.

I remember this one. Stupid question. First time I've ever been asked what the total lone pairs were.
