hey watsup sdn follower,
Today i started destroyer after reviewing Chads general chem video, and going over AP cliff bio in detail. I am going very slow doing about 10 questions per day from each section. Destroyer's bio is really challenging, its so complex, and the ans choices are very detailed. On the other side, chem section is not that bad. it is very straight forward. I hope i am not the only one feeling this way. just wanted to share my thoughts... good luck to all the others who are studying.

The GChem is not bad (I haven't started on their OChem yet so I can't say)

As for bio, I ran into the same problem as you. I did about 60 of them and missed like 2/3 of them. Then I went back and read through Cliff's AP Bio supplemented by Kaplan BB and now I'm getting most of the questions right (except the really obscure ones like... I did not know that an "amphioxus" is a lancelet)

How are you studying for OChem?

I took the Dat towards the end of January and honestly Destroyer was probably my most helpful resource. Stick to destroyer keep working on it and take notes and understand why each question is wrong or right and memorize the additional notes. I did really well on my DAT and I believe that Destroyer had a lot to do with it.

your right the desroyer is a killer its a DAT KILLER haha.........bro i wanted to cry the first time i used destroyer because it made me feel like i knew nothing but i made the mistake of not doing my hw before starting the destroyer.........everything is hard at first......but once you know your stuff the destroyer will be most likley your best tool to get that great score.......use kaplan blue book before tackling destroyer and u shud be fine but ur def. not alone on this feeling but it will go a lot in the long road. best of luck.

Woaw you are doing great. 60 questions and about 5 wrong. I did 11 questions and only 4 right. Some of the material is just so detailed that even cliff does not pays alot of attention to it. For orgo I will watch chads video and since I am taking orgo right now it is fresh in my mind. What about QR how is that going along? I looked at the material and it's not bad, I just forgot everything! So need to practice alot.

Ya I am using destroyer as a studying source rather than using it to test my knowledge. There are ALOT of which one is false/true question so writing notes down for almost every question. Hope I kill the dats like you did

Umm, I think destroyer GC and Orgo are very nice. Biology is "okay", I mean, I had a HUGE biology background before doing destroyer biology so, when I did the biology destroyer first time around, I marked everything I got right / wrong and It was 70% correct. However, I don't think those 350 biology questions helped me at all for MY TEST version at least. If I remember correctly, none of the 40 questions I had were anything related to destroyer biology.

but If you master destroyer Orgo & Gc, your going to be in EXCELLENT shape. the first time I did GC (after my initial kaplan review), I only got like 63% right. Orgo was like 54% correct lol. But when I did it 2nd time around, I got like 80%+ correct on both.

So moral of the story is, destroyer is litterally like the name says, its supposed to break you down and re-build you up after you go through it 2nd,3rd, etc times

chads video is a good basic review of the material and is popular amongst the sdner's but in terms of problem solving you would have to use the destroyer along with kaplan blue book and topscore to get the best possible score but any resource you can get your hands on including chads videos and topscore will help you get used to the material but you have to do as many as problems as you can!

I thought Destroyer Orgo was ok - I've only been missing a lot of the trap questions, and identifying aromatics w/ Huckel, etc. Bio seems ok, not as bad as I was expecting, but have had lots of upper div bio's; I would feel overwhelmed if I hadn't taken Genetics, Biochem, Cell Bio, Micro, etc yet.

GC is "Destroy"ing me - worked out ~50 problems today, took me several hrs and gave me a huge headache. Pretty much raged hard.

tl;dr hope all these gray hairs will be worth it.

for those that just started goin over destroyer, go over bio section couple of times if you have enough time and know everything inside out. I had at least three question straight from destroyer. g luck to you guys

I totally agree with you. I've been going through the bio section of Destroyer and it's killing me! Today, I only went over about 30 problems and it took me so long to just go over the answers and jot down notes because I got most of them wrong. :-(

Honestly, don't worry too much if you get things wrong the first time. I remember I was going through the bio section, I literally got 6 right out of the first 40. And then, to make matters worse, I came on SDN and people were complaining about how they only got 32 right out of the first 40. Geez louise.

I ended up getting a 23 on the section, that's with only the bare minimum pre-reqs (intro bio 1 & 2). The trick is to LEARN FROM YOUR MISTAKES. And learn from your correct answers too-- if you got the question right but weren't 100%-absolutely-positively sure of your answer, then you should act like you didn't get it right at all. If you're getting a lot wrong (like I did), go back to Cliffs and go over the sections that destroyer "destroyed" you on. I think that method (first going through destroyer, getting destroyed, going back to Cliffs to the specific sections I got destroyed on) helped a lot more than just straight reading through the book, since the former method kept me on my toes and kept me actively learning. (I wrote this for bio, but apply to other sections as well).
