Hey guys, I have a stupid question. For #56 in Destroyer OC, why is the para product major and the ortho product minor? I thought because Cl is a halogen and e- withdrawing it will stabilize the nucleophile and be the major product? (I know the less stable product is more reactive) I'am obv. missing something here.

Cl isn't on the ring so it is not directing the substitution. N is directing and it adds para because of steric hindrance. When considering the activating/deactivating rules do not think of what is adding, only what is on the ring
