I know people say memorizing the roadmaps is key, but the roadmaps don't give much explicit information about stereochemistry, regiochemistry, mechanism, etc.

Is there another good source with that information that people have used to supplement Destroyer? Does Kaplan cover most of the same reactions that are in Destroyer? It's been a while since I've had orgo and my class didn't go over all of these reactions, so I need some more clarification.

I don't have a textbook or time/money to order one, so I'd prefer online resources or something easily found in a bookstore if you know of any. Thanks!

I believe from what i read from other people from here... they say if you dont know any reactions then at least know road maps. but you are right it does not say anything about the reactions... but just look over them to see for things such as anti, cis, etc... but make sure to know the 100+ reactions spread out in kaplan book they are enough and they will def. show up. I say kaplan alone is good for orgo. orgo is KISS....

Your absolutely correct. Go ahead and use Kaplan BB for the stereo/regiochemistry, that's what I did. As for mechanisms, remember that you don't have to memorize each one exactly, know the basics maybe like what intermediate the reaction proceeds by (this will also help u with regiochemistry as well, ie: if you know an intermediate is a bridged Halonium ion you know the products are anti addition). There are a couple (just a few) reactions/problems in Destroyer that were not covered in Kaplan, but of course these rarely show up and I'm sure you could google the reaction to get the stereochemistry.

I try to not hype certain resources up, but the orgo section of destroyer is really spot on (at least it was for my exam).

If you know the roadmaps and can answer all the questions in destroyer, you should be able to score high in this section. Even if you did not feel comfortable with this class in undergrad, destroyer can definitely help you. Put the roadmap reactions on notecards and memorize them (there is no way around this). Understand the basics for everything else: sterochemistry, lab procedures, etc... Then do the questions over and over. One thing to never lose sight of with destroyer is understanding why a certain answer is correct and others are not. Memorizing the correct response w/o understanding the principle does not get your far.

Best of luck.
