Hello all. For starters, let me begin by saying that the Destroyer is AWESOME! For bio, chem, and orgo, its the best tool out there. I just wanted to get your opinions on the QR section...do you think that studying the destroyer is sufficient for the QR section? If not, what do you suggest?

How would you know if it was the best tool for the sciences if you haven't taken the test yet?

I assume Decan knows the destroyer is good b/c it helps him understand and focus on topics that other sources don't cover or mention that much. At least that is what i feel. About the QR the destroyer gives u a clue on the hard questions, but I think that in order to do well in math u need a lot of practice, So if u want u can use Kaplan Practice subjects test, or u can use Achiever. I hope I helped u. Good Luck studying to all of u.

The QR section in Destroyer is top notch like the science sections. But, it's definitely a good idea to do practice problems from other sources like a GRE or SAT Math book, Kaplan subject tests, TopScore, and Achiever.

B/c I took the test in december and I know what I needed to focus on.

Thanks guys...I have topscore and I plan to buy achiever. I'm almost done with the destroyer so I'll start with the practice tests by thursday (hopefully).

Hey Decan

I agree that Destroyer rocks. I feel pretty confident that detroyer's QR covers all topics, but still math's all about practice. I'm waiting on my achiever and topscore and i figure with all that it should be more than enough, only because it's not really that tough, it's just a matter of getting our hands on more questions. Anyway, let's KIT -- i'm taking the test on Aug. 17...

what were the sections that you had problems with in Dec?

Thanks!!

I took the DAT on 5/29

It was my meat and potatoes for science. I think it was the best tool for the sciences.

However, it really depends on how you learn. If you have a photographic memory and don't have ADHD, I suppose you can just read your textbooks and still get a great science score.

During the embryonic stages of my studying, I used the kaplan blue book, but after a week, I got really frustrated w/ it because of a lack of detail.

Once I mastered the Destroyer, everything in the blue book was pretty much second nature, and I had a ton of additional concepts I needed under my belt. Most importantly, destroyer was great for helping me apply theory to novel situations. So, in that respect it was also good for the sciences.

Just my two cents!

does anyone find the kaplan QR practice tests very hard? i feel like there is no time at all. is the real QR that hard and complicated?

Yeah, I got the same question. I can't finish a single Kaplan QR subject test on time or even close to time. Some of the word problems I would have never figured out on my own.

Its ridiculous. I only hope it isn't this bad...

what were the sections that you had problems with in Dec?

My scores in december were:

Bio: 21
Chem: 20
Ochem: 16
QR: 17
RC: 21
PAT: 14 🙁

I didnt study very hard (or long, 20 hours at the most)...but I'm fixing that problem now! I need to rasie my ochem, QR, and PAT. I'm shooting or >21 in all categories, but I'll be happy with a 19. I'm scheduled to take the test on the 16th of this month...but I might push it back to the 23rd.
