Is the DAT Destroyer sufficient in preparing you for the QR section? Any comments from those that used the Destroyer to study for the QR section would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! DB

I'll tell u one thing u will never see any book in the world written in a so related way to the DAT as the Destroyer and Achiever. All u need to do is to learn and understand the solutions in destroyer and practice ur timing on Achiever. That's all u have to do practice practice. B/c in this section timing is the major problem. Good Luck to u !!!!

well i don't believe it is a problem of timing its a problem of people doing more math than reasoning. learn how to do the problems effectively and efficiently and you won't have problems on that section.

What are the main types of questions in the QR section? Word problems?

So, are you saying that understanding/be able to do the destroyer is sufficient for the DAT? QR is my worst subject bc I am not a "math" person...any tips?

This is a good question. Any thoughts?

Destroyer is definitely a great prep for the QR on the DAT. Just know the Destroyer inside and out, and maybe do a little more of trig. You should be fine!!

I thought Destroyer was an okay prep. Definitely go through it. I went through it twice and the second time it was all timed, I went through, 40 questions at a time as fast as I could.

I really felt that it was closer to Topscore or Achiever, but a little bit harder. But not much harder.

The probability was very straightforward.

Many of the word problems were the classic word problems that you see again and again. Stuff such as ratios, Jon, Mike and Jim in a ratio of 2:3:7 or something like that.

A work problem. However, the work problem was not the simple, simple kind you see in Destroyer. There were two people and one joined the other and they worked at different rates. It was a bit tricky. Destroyer only preps you for the very easiest of the work problems.

Similar triangles.
A couple conversions, but they give all the conversion factors. You needed to be able to estimate well.

Overall, I think Destroyer is good to show you the types of problems, but they give you ones a bit on the easy side. Not in terms of numbers, but just in terms of complexity of setting up the word problems.

I hope that helps somewhat, I started rambling a bit.
