Hello everyone,

I started Dental works study schedule last month, followed all of it. Did chads videos, read the cliffs ap book, and kaplan book, and took lots of notes. When I started the destroyer. I have been getting destroyed. But it seems everyday of my schedule is getting pushed back because I can not do all the problems, go over all the problems, and under stand all the concepts of all the different sections in one day. I am also using the most up to date DAT and MATH destroyer books, if that makes any difference. I am now 8 days and counting behind schedule. My test is the end of next month and Idk if I can go through the destroyer books twice by then. Any advice? I plan starting practice tests soon, but idk if I should finish the destroyer first. Thanks in advance. SDN has been one of the single most motivating places when it comes to studying for this test.

Dont get discouraged, the questions in Destroyers are known to be hard. Trust me, the real DAT is no where near as hard, I took mine over a week ago. Just go over all of them once, then mark the ones you dont know and go over those again to make sure you know them. Oh and divide the questions into blocks of 40, its easier that way. Dont try to do a whole bunch of them at the same time, you'll be overwhelmed. As for math destroyer, dont ignore the p-values questions on test 11 or 12 I believed, it showed up on my dat. good luck!

Thank you for the advice, anyone else have thoughts on this as well?

I am currently going through the DAT destroyer. I'm doing it in pieces right now so when one subject gets boring I jump to the next. Doing about 30 problems in each section a day. I'm taking notes on each concept I learn. I play on going through all the problems, writing down / learning the concepts, and then going through the questions again. It just seems so time consuming....... does it take you forever to go through even just 10 problems? The difficulty and how often I have to check the back for answers makes me uneasy....

Yes in fact I can only go through two sections a day.. which is my biggest problem, but its bc I am really learning the stuff that I don't know. 😕

Same man. Last time I took gen chem was four years ago and it was when I didn't put any effort into my studies... If I could only go back to my freshman year and have the same academic attitude I had in my last few years. I'm having to relearn EVERYTHING for gen chem. Simplest questions can seem daunting 🙁

Sounds like we are in the same boat when is your test?

for the biology memorize the answers but also know why each wrong answer choice on each question (they may not ask the same question but they may use one of the answer choices as a question)

for GC, keep in mind you are not allowed a calculator and a good portion of the GC problems in the destroyer are done with a calculator, but if you know how to setup the equation, that is all.

So basically know how to rearrange the equations? Not actually do the calculations, but simple arrangement?

yeah like PV = nRT, the various gas law equations (Boyles, Charles, etc.) and some equations like to find molality. The Destroyer is there to show if you really know the material, based on what people here on the board and in person have said, know the destroyer problems real well and you should in good shape.
