Does anyone know what time the AACOMAS application will become available today (May 1)? Also, when will AACOMAS begin processing applications?

I applaud your effort to get started early, but chill out. If you have your stuff in by July you will have beat most people. Most students I know didn't submit until August. Not that this is recommended. 😀

C'mon, shindog, cut us some slack. We're just excited! 😉

And some of us wait til after Christmas before we send it in to get the last possible interviews to stress oneself and see if one is really good enough to get accepted.......The previous statement is not the recommended path. Some of the "clueless" peeps do it, but again not recommended. Apply early, but take enough time to go over it and make sure all your ducks are in a row.

I was under the impression that the application wouldn't be available today but rather Monday.

Ahh...I went to the website and the date has been changed from May 1 to May 5. (Incidentally, before that it read "in April".)

Well, it's another weekend to dig through my closets looking for my transcripts.

Although you may be able to submit your application on May 5th, they will not begin processing the files until June1st. I e-mailed AACOMAS and this is what they told me. In addition, it will take 4-6 weeks to process your application based upon the LAST date they recieved required information such as transcripts, MCAT scores, application etc... I too plan on submitting my application early (May20th) but realize that it won't reach schools until July or so. My goal is to have the secondary applications and letters of recommendation in by mid-August. This way I should begin recieving interviews in early September and know my fate by November at the latest.

I am the poster child for early applications. TIMING MATTERS!!

My application was verified and forward to the school that I applied to within 48 hours after AACOMAS received my last set of transcripts ( 7/2/03) all because I applied so early. I recieved a secondary application to my #1 school in less than 2 weeks and was able to get my file complete July 30th and was invited for an interview by the 1st week of August.

If you don't have stellar stats and EC's, apply as early as possible because it does matter to the schools that offer rolling admissions. Your application looks a whole lot better if you are a 3.1 gpa and a 25 MCAT when there are still 100 spaces available in October but by March you may not look so good to the adcom because they only have 5 spaces left, and they get to be really selective at this point.

what school did you apply to, and did you get accepted??

Ditto - 'rolling admissions' is your friend.

First time - 1 interview, no acceptances.
Second time - June AACOMAS submission - 5 interviews, 2 waitlists, 2 accepts - by *October*. 😀
