I have an idea for an invention but I need some info. For simplicity, let us say you are in a room full of medical equipment which is monitoring a person in another room which you cannot see. If this person started to drown, which piece of equipment would detect a problem first (blood ox, blood pressure, heart rate, etc)? Secondly, which piece of equipment--which would detect a problem, but not necessarily detect it first--would be the least expensive?

Also, any links to webpages, titles of books or journal articles which would pertain to this subject would be appreciated

Thank you.

Mike

1. The one that showed they stopped breathing (end tidal CO2 monitor). You have to be intubated (or otherwise airway assissted) to have one of these.

2. I don't know what's cheap....heart rate is, and would certainly go up, but this change is not very specific.

This is probably the dumbest f^&*ing idea ever.

I don't get it. "In another room". what kind of "room" would this be? Are we working at sea world? Is there a tank in the room or is the room a tank? I would imagine that for $8/hr you could hire a lifeguard to watch the patient and save expensive monitoring charges. How would a patient drown in a room?

You know it occurs to me that people like you are the cause of the downfall of civilized society. You freaking arse--you do not even know what my idea is--how could you know how "dumb" it is? Obviously, to protect my idea I was as vague as possible. Idiot! And doctors wonder why most people think they are a joke.
Sorry.
You are the new edison.

And didn't they teach us all in Pathology that "drowning" is a diagnosis of exclusion anyway? At least that's what the deputy coroners that gave our forensics lectures told us.

"Where you born this stupid or did you have a head injury at sometime? I tried to put my question in a way which even an idiot might understand the information I was seeking. However, you have proven me unsuccessful. I will strive to make my future postings as monosyllabic as possible for you."

Wow. It makes me uncomfortable to be in the presence of such greatness....

Can ANYONE venture a guess as to what OP is talking about??? 😕 Apparently he doesn't want to clarify so he can protect his invention.

Lifeguards are pretty cheap....less than $10 an hour.

Glad you reminded me about the perils of swimming. Last time I went to the beach I forgot my continuous pulse oximetry monitor. I sure won't let that happen again!
