Got a call from UDMercy today to set up an interview.😀 Anybody else get the call?
DAT: JulyAh! Congrats! stats? When'd you submit / get completed!
so i guess its just michigan students who have gotten interviews so far or are there any out of state who also got the call??
Have you received anything at all from UDM? It seems like in the past couple weeks I've received about 5 or 6 letters on various topics. One of the comments that has been made throughout their info is that they want a score of 17+ in all areas. I hate to say it, but they may require that you retake DAT.🙁my top choice is UDM, I wish I get an interview, these are my stats.
Bio 21, orgo 19, chem 17, reading 14, PAT 14, Math 12, GPA 3.6, lots of community service, I know that the nonsciences DAT are bad, but I am more than welling to retake, do you think there is hope for interview, im from MI.

thanks for the people who reply, I am retaking for sure, but do you guys think that late jan. is too late?
the reason im worried is that the people that take the DAT like late in Jan. and get accepted are the ones who interview and were requested to take the DAT to get accepted, me no interview up to date?
Had my interview at UDM and it went well (tour first and then interview). It was very different than UofMich or Indiana. I was the only person on the tour and I was interviewed by one person. It wasn't stressful, but it could be a difficult situation if you didn't hit it off with the one interviewer. It was nice touch when they have you try on a lab coat and ask you what name you would like embroidered on it.
every time i call them to try and schedule an interview nobody picks up.
just got back from UDM.. wow.. their new facility is bananas!!!!
don't worry about not getting the pre-dec interview for udm, they will fill some spots by dec. 1st but not even close to full.
I've had 3 interviews, Indiana, UofMich, and UDM. I would say that if by some miracle all three were to accept me, I would pick UDM. Great facility and awesome clinical opportunities. Did you walk away with the feeling that most pre Dec interviews would get accepted (providing something absolutely crazy didn't happen at the interview)?
I hope so, the interview itself was very low stress and it went great.
Hopefully we'll hear back by Dec. 1st. I am off to U of M this Friday so I will see the differences between the two schools. But the new facility was impressive...
Does anyone know that if you have a pre-december 1st interview if that means your chances of getting accepted to U of D are really high? Because I don't think they interview that many people before dec. 1st. Just curious on any stats with that....
Umich def gives you lots of opportunities to get a lot of clinical practice. True they have better grad programs than udm which tend to steal patients, but there are ample opportunities in the school, through community outreach, and through outreach abroad. Also, uofm is by far more respected than udm both instate and out of state, gives you more research opportunities (if that's something you're into), and with boards potentially going pass/fail you need that big name if you're looking to specialize. The other benifits include not living in the D, safety, great bar scene, etc...
udm has some perks but overall ufom trumps udm.
Is that why the day I interviewed at UDM they had about 20 Umich students there RETAKING the clinical portion of the boards? They didn't have the clinical exposure to pass the first time. UDM had few, if any, repeats on the clinical portion. Just a thought.
If being at a research institution is all that matters to you, and it has absolutely NO bearing on the majority of students, then go to U of M. Most people don't want to do research, especially after actually being in dental school and seeing how difficult it really is.
If you are lucky enought to get accepted to both schools and money isn't an option, I say UDM. If money is an option, then U of M if you are a resident. People say money isn't the issue, but an extra $1000 in your pocket each month will really be nice when you graduate.
You will be a great dentist regardless the school. I would look more at cost and culture than "research". 👍
Okay, so when (notice I didn't say if) you get the call from UofM and UDM, which will it be?!😀alright just got back from U of M.
Research is off the hook.... can't say much more about it, it's amazing.
The interview was quite intense with 30 us in there and 30 of the interviewers all lined up for questions but it was very exciting and the questions weren't so bad.
Overall, it was a pretty sweet experience.
Good luck to yall who ever is visiting there soon.

how was the udm interview? I have it in a couple of weeks. I heard it was more intense than uofm, one on one with an adcom. Any pointers?
